Building the Bridge from Classroom to Career
On October 23, 2024, Mr. Mike Wexler, Director of Internships & Strategic Partnerships and Assistant Head of the Upper School at The Village School of Naples, opened the school’s first annual internship and shadowing panel with a clear vision: prepare students for the world beyond high school by engaging them with real-world experiences. Wexler emphasized that the program is “simple yet transformative” where students, mentors, and business leaders come together to build and expand TVS’s culture of hands-on learning.
“Students gain insights that textbooks simply can’t provide,” Wexler shared, noting that these internships and shadowing opportunities, built with a network of passionate local professionals, are designed to grow every year. He introduced the students and panelists, expressing his enthusiasm about watching the program’s potential unfold. Wexler closed by acknowledging the exciting progress of the program, including new partners and modular scheduling, which will allow students to attend internships during the school day.
