He explained, “We want young people to know that they can have meaningful careers here without needing to leave for New York or another big city.” Shadowing with Naples Global Advisors exposes students to every part of the finance industry, from securities analysis to portfolio management. “Our goal is to demystify finance for students and inspire them to consider careers they might never have thought possible,” Morris concluded, noting that they provide a structured, challenging program designed to ignite curiosity and foster critical thinking.

Learning the Art of Patient Care

While students couldn’t perform hands-on exams due to HIPAA and compliance laws, they gained valuable insights into patient interactions. Dr. Hiester explained, “Patients were very receptive to having the students around, asking them questions and sharing insights.” With longer, one-on-one patient visits typical in concierge care, the students witnessed a unique aspect of healthcare that allowed for deeper connections with patients. Dr. Hiester expressed her hope that the experience broadened their perspectives on potential careers in healthcare, noting that “whether or not they go into medicine, the skills they learn will be beneficial.”

Nurturing Financial Literacy and Professionalism

The intern, Cameron, had the opportunity to work directly with Hartman, learning by sitting in on internal and client meetings and analyzing real financial documents. “One of the main lessons was the importance of ensuring loans are structured for repayment,” Hartman explained. As Cameron experienced first-hand, this internship was not just about observing but actively engaging with the finance world, gaining insights he could carry forward. “Going forward, we’ll continue to offer this position each year,” said Hartman, noting that “the hands-on experience and professional setting are invaluable for high school students.”

Manufacturing Memorable Experiences through Excellence in Hospitality

Pavicevic’s professional journey began at the Ritz-Carlton, where he learned the art of hospitality and the importance of precision. Today, he has taken those lessons into his own restaurant, where he manages a rigorous, multi-step training program that interns must complete. “Interns at Sails aren’t just serving food; they’re part of a meticulous process to ensure every experience is unforgettable,” he explained. Pavicevic’s vision extends beyond training; he believes in instilling confidence through knowledge and sees his internship program as a platform for future leaders. “I believe our community has future champions, and I want to give them a strong foundation in the value of craftsmanship,” Pavicevic concluded.

Learning the Ropes of Entrepreneurship

By the end of the year, each student will be launching their own business with a mentor to guide them through the process. Jadyn emphasized that she has learned valuable skills, from leadership to team building. As part of the program, she is planning a fundraiser event at Sails on November 9 to raise funds for her future business. “It’s been an amazing opportunity for me, and I’m grateful for the support of TVS,” Jadyn said.

Navigating the World of Finance: Internship Reflections

In June and July, he joined Cogent Bank, where he focused on credit analysis and loan underwriting. “The first thing Mr. Hartman taught me was to ensure we get paid back,” Cameron shared with a smile. He reviewed loan documents and tax returns, learning what factors impact loan approval. Reflecting on his experiences, Cameron expressed his gratitude, noting, “It wasn’t all exciting, but I learned a lot of essential skills that will be valuable no matter where I go.”
