Dear Middle School Families,

I am excited for us all to welcome the unlimited possibilities of the 2024-2025 school year. One possibility is embracing newness – we are all experiencing a new rotating schedule that offers efficient and purposeful learning opportunities. We welcome those new to the State of Florida or Naples and those new to The Village School (specifically the Middle School). A new grade with new teachers and the ability to cultivate new relationships. The new academic year awaits!

The Village School is a special place, and we aim to create a positive atmosphere advantageous for academic, spiritual, social, artistic, and athletic success. The Middle School experience will provide infinite opportunities for purposeful and relevant learning in and out of the classroom, along with developing consistent and positive leadership skills. We are committed to helping you cultivate and fine-tune positive habits. Remember, it is a process, and we are in it together.

Please feel free to contact me via email jcavallo@tvsnaples.org with any questions.

Go Knights!

Head of Middle School

The Middle School division (6th - 8th grades) at The Village School of Naples provides a dynamic and holistic education that prepares students for the challenges of high school and beyond. Our curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and the development of a solid academic foundation, ensuring that students are well-equipped to thrive in an ever-evolving world.

Students engage in thought-provoking and challenging coursework that expands their skills and knowledge. We offer various honors, high school credit, and elective courses, including advanced math for upper-school credit, language, and FLVS (Florida Virtual School) courses. These opportunities allow students to delve deeper into their areas of interest, laying the groundwork for academic excellence necessary for future success and admission to top colleges and universities.

In addition to academics, our Middle School offers a wide variety of enrichment opportunities. Students can explore creativity through 2D/3D Art, Advanced Art, Mixed Media, and Theater courses. Those passionate about technology and innovation can participate in Coding, Robotics, Engineering, and Space Engineering courses. Unique programs such as Agriculture, Culinary Arts, and Entrepreneurship provide practical skills and real-world experience. At the same time, language acquisition is supported through Spanish and French classes, which can earn upper-school credits.

The Middle School experience is further enhanced by our Athletic Department, which is committed to being an integral part of the overall educational and spiritual experience. Students can participate in sports such as Basketball, Cheer, Cross Country, Golf, Lacrosse, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, Track & Field, and Volleyball. Our athletic programs culminate at the Varsity level, where student-athletes in our Upper School have the opportunity to compete in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) state series, fostering both physical fitness and teamwork.

Students also benefit from The Village Success Center, a neurodiverse program offering a broad range of specialized services. This unique program is designed to stretch the brightest students, support those with language-based learning and math differences. The Village Success Center ensures that all students receive the personalized support they need to achieve their full potential. Additionally, students in Grade 8 are given exceptional college placement guidance through our Quest College Success program.

We embrace a balanced approach to technology. In grades 4 through 8, Chromebooks are used at a 1:1 student-to-device ratio, ensuring that students are equipped with the right tools to enhance their education.

Experiential learning is a key component of our Middle School curriculum. We dedicate a week each year to creating student experiences and learning opportunities outside the classroom. Sixth-grade students tour Colonial Williamsburg, seventh-graders visit our nation’s capital in Washington, D.C., and eighth-graders explore the highlights of Houston and San Antonio, Texas. These immersive experiences bring history and learning to life, giving students a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Throughout the year, our students participate in several cross-curricular learning events that reenact pivotal moments in human history. These events include a Medieval Faire, a Greek Festival, a Colonial Market, a Civil War Reenactment, an early 20th-century Tenement House, a "Gatsby-esque" Roaring 20s event, and a 1940s USO showcase. These interactive experiences enrich students' historical knowledge and encourage them to connect with the past in meaningful ways.

At The Village School of Naples, our Middle School experience is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning while providing the skills and knowledge necessary for lifelong success.
